About Me

I love being a teacher, a wife, a mother of two married daughters, and a grandmother. I grew up in NY state, but moved to the New England area when I got married. Most of my teaching experience has been in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I recently moved from Merrimack, NH, to Hampstead, NH. I love cats and have two of them. When I am a classroom teacher, my favorite part of the day is reading aloud to my students. I'm taking a break for awhile from teaching to take care of my almost 5 month old grandson each week.

Education

I have an M.S. and a B.S. from SUNY (State University of New York at Cortland). I graduated with my B.S. in 1983 and my M.S. in 1986. For both degrees, I studied elementary education.

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching for over 30 years. Much of my teaching experience has been in Catholic schools. Usually during the school year, I would informally tutor one or two elementary students after school. On occasion, I have also tutored students during the summer. Last year, I was teaching 4th grade. However, since I was going to be babysitting my new grandson halfway through the school year, I decided not to return to that position. I was planning on subbing for the school I was at until the babysitting started at the end of December, but my principal asked me to be a mentor for a few of the new teachers. This was my position this past fall until around the end of November and the beginning of December. As the colder weather approached, it seemed that more and more teachers were getting sick and needed a sub to cover their classes. Unfortunately, there were days when my school didn't have enough subs. When that happened, I would be called in to sub instead of mentor.

Interests

I am involved in the church that I go to. I am a Sunday School teacher, but also the Superintendent of Sunday School. I am the chair person for the church's education committee and am a lay servant at the church. I work at our church's monthly ham and bean suppers. I used to be in the handbell choir at church. I enjoy going to the movies; especially, when I can go with one of my daughters, her husband, and my niece. (not all at the same time). I also enjoy dabbling in genealogy. Right now my focus is on a particular group of ancestors who lived in NY state. On occasion, I have attended genealogy seminars, both online and in person, and conferences. I enjoy spending time with my grandson, even when I don't have to babysit. My older daughter is going to teach me how to crochet. I enjoy getting together with my NY state relatives when I am in the area.

I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
